| The
economy here is primarily based on our five month long summer, when
flocks of people visit to raft our rivers, view or climb the tallest
mountain in North America and to try their skills at fishing for
one of five species of salmon.
The
town features a historic main street which, during the summer months,
is usually teaming with tourists shopping the many Alaskan gift
shops, dining at a local restaurant or street side stand, or having
a blast at one of 5 bars in town.
The
airport is nearly equal to the size of the town, with more than
five air taxis specifically in business to serve the hundreds of
climbers and thousands of flight seers. The private aircraft ramp
is peppered with "Alaska bush planes", including Super
Cubs, Beavers, Taylorcrafts, Champs, Cessna's, Maules, and many
more. It is truly an aviation buffs heaven.
So
whether you come to Talkeetna to learn to fly or to climb Mt. McKinley,
your time here will certainly be well worth the trip. |
